Helmholtz Chamber

Hirst Magnetic Instruments Ltd.  offer a "Helmholtz" Chamber for applying magnetic fields in 3 dimensions.  This multi-axis system is also known as a Helmholtz Cube.

Whilst the magnetic field created does not have the homogeneity of a true Helmholtz configuration, it does offer a reasonable compromise between homogeneity and access to the operating space.

The Helmholtz Chamber provides full operator access to magnet processing whilst controlling the environment in which the process is being conducted.  The accuracy of magnetising outcome achieved within this processing method approaches that achieved by true Helmholtz coils.

This type of chamber is commonly used in TV and CRT picture alignment processes to simulate magnetic environments as seen in locations in parts of the world remote from the  production facility.
