Product Range

Hirst Magnetic Instruments Ltd. design and manufacture Gaussmeters based on the Hall Effect principle of magnetic flux density measurement.  Applications include the inspection and measurement of magnetic flux density of magnet and magnet assemblies in goods inward, quality assurance environments and NDT applications etc.

Currently there are five versions in the range namely the GM08 Gaussmeter, GM07 Gaussmeter, GM05 Gaussmeter, GM04 Gaussmeter and VGM01 Gaussmeter.

The GM08,GM07 GM05 and Gm04 Gaussmeters are hand held devises, easily transported to various locations in a factory environment.  Each unit is controlled by a simple menu and is supplied with a thin semi-flexible Transverse Probe suitable for all but the very smallest of applications.

The GM04 / 05 / 07 / 08 incorporates an analogue peak detector for the DC and AC peak functions.  This, coupled with the microprocessor operation means that fast response is possible with digital stability (fast pulse / no drop in readings).

The GM05 Gaussmeter and GM08 Gaussmeter supports the extra functions of a non-volatile memory to hold stored measurements that can be uploaded through an RS232 (and a USB interface for GM08) interface to a host computer.  All manually accessable functions are controllable through the RS232/USB . Some additional functions are also available that are not available to manual users.

The VGM01 Gaussmeter offers a Windows based virtual instrument designed for a PC based environment in the laboratory or factory enclosure.
