A northern UK company was looking to find a complete system that would process plastic bonded ferrite magnets contained with a ring gear. In addition the system had to confirm that the process had been successful on each occasion. As part of the process, two magnets on each gear had to be magnetised to saturation, the magnet surface scanned at 1mm intervals and measurement of the flux density taken at two points in test mode. Handling equipment needed to be capable of supporting a cycle of less than 60 seconds and a work rate of up to 100,000 gear rings per annum. In addition, logging software had to be written to enable SPC data to be fed to a PC and printer via an RS232 connection. The contract value of this project was in excess of £14,000 |
